“A BRAND IS NO LONGER WHAT WE TELL THE CONSUMER IT IS. IT IS WHAT CONSUMERS TELL EACH OTHER IT IS” ——- Scott Cook
It is not uncommon to hear brands tell its target audience and customers about how good they are. Some attach wonderful catch phrases like “No.1 premium beer”, Nigeria No.1 Job site, “Fastest internet network”, “Trusted” just to sway potential customers. We no more live in the time brands use enticing words to glue us permanently to them. Today my friend bought Etisalat’s easy blaze internet speed modem. Now he swore not to encourage anyone to repeat his own mistake. This means even the product’s creative advert that highlights how its internet runs with the speed of light would not sway him any more.
Forget lofty and ambitious taglines, and move straight in meeting consumers’ expectations and satisfy them. Their testimony about you shapes your value and defines you as a brand or commodity.
